The Influence of Business Storytelling: James Cameron

I recently had the chance to watch a Ted Talk speech of one of the most successful and infamous filmmakers in cinema, James Cameron. Viewing his exclusive guest-speaking session was quite inspiring and it really displayed a good observation of why Mr. Cameron became such a successful cinema artist.

Mr. Cameron is not like your ordinary filmmaker; Moderately, most filmmakers seem to advise the youth to take a cautious view of what they are doing in the world, but Cameron's whole theory is about taking a risk in order to become successful. As a young child, Cameron realized he had a passion for exploring. He was the kid that loved to explore with a great sense of adventure, which led his curiosity of the unknown. Cameron loved to explore so much that he had the idea of sharing what he liked to explore. Therefore, Cameron's fascination of life exploration led to him wanting to become a storyteller through cinema.

As I analyzed Cameron's story through his speech, I was able to realize how much of an influence he has become to many. His approach to his audience was well empathetic to others and showcased a well-connected narrative style speech that made individuals engage deeper and deeper as he spoke. He displayed such a strong connection to his audience by expressing his approach of the point that many people will fail, but that does not certainly mean they will not eventually become successful. He referenced NASA's motto of "Failure is not an option", disagreeing with it by stating, "failure must be an option, its a leap of faith." His whole theoretical approach was that we must all take a risk and not be afraid to fear the outcome. He would end his speech by saying "Failure is an option, fear is not."

I believe James Cameron's entire speech was beautifully displayed because he gave people a sense of hope and advised everyone that life is like an exploration, we may not know exactly what to expect, but that should not stop any of us from exploring more to finding what we truly desire. James Cameron is not only a leader, a visionary, an explorer, but he is also a storyteller of influence. I think one of the most important factors that a filmmaker can achieve in their lifetime is allowing their stories to influence others, which is what Mr. Cameron has successfully achieved throughout his career as a storyteller of cinema.
