Film Distribution & Marketing Enhanced By Technology

Recently, I have been engaged in numerous discussions about technology flooding the gates of the film industry. In the past decade, the film industry has seen a lot of changes with the new technologies that have been introduced to us all. Back in 2011, an online article on True Hero Studio discussed the reasons on how new technology is changing the film industry. This article made some really good points that are still very relevant today. The online article written back in 2011 made me realize how in-depth technology is really altering the way people work in the film industry, but furthermore, it made me look on the greater good of how technology has helped shape the distribution and marketing aspect of films.
Every-year, nearly hundreds and hundreds of films get made in Hollywood and a major problem is that many of these films that are produced never actually get the recognition they deserve because majority of films do not get distributed or even marketed well enough, which hurts many great motion pictures. Thanks to our fast-pace technology in this digital age, film-making and distribution is going under a major revolution. According to True Hero Studio, social media factors such as YouTube, Google Plus, Facebook, Myspace, Instagram, smartphone applications, and etc social media devices have allowed many films to become distributed and well market far more better than before. It makes me think of why so many production companies are now promoting their film projects all over these social networks, which is to expand a fan-base, and to really use these social media outlets as marketing strategies for further distribution.
One must realize, in today's society everyone appears to be living online, which is seriously a deplorable reality, but it is certainly somewhat the absolute truth. More and more individuals are technologically dependent on these social networks. Therefore, film companies have recognized the technological strategy to use social media to enhance the exposure of their films by advertising, promoting and marketing their projects on each and everyone of these sites. This social media strategy technique has become a major success for many of the films being produced in Hollywood. The technology of social media has made it very accessible for the film industry to really build their audience online before they even attend the theaters.
